Security Guard Uniforms Printing: Branded Tops for Contracts, Sites and Events

Security Guard Uniforms Printing: Branded Tops for Contracts, Sites and Events

Security work is about being recognised quickly for the right reason. On a retail site, a construction yard, a festival gate or a hospital car park, people need to see at a glance who is responsible. The uniform has to look professional, be visible when it needs to be, and be consistent enough across a team that the client's site manager trusts it. Many security firms are small, run several contracts at once and change guards between sites at short notice. This page covers the practical side of printing branded tops for security teams: how to handle company versus site branding, how to deal with different contracts, how to order for a fast-changing team and what to think about before printing anything that is part of a regulated badge. FabricForge prints from a single garment upwards, in adult sizes S to 5XL, and parcels go by DPD, Royal Mail, Parcelforce or our relay parcel service.

What we print and what we do not

We print company names, logos, site names and wording on T-shirts, hoodies and similar garments. We do not produce licences, ID cards or anything that is meant to look like an official badge, and we cannot print wording that implies authority a person does not have. Rules on what a licensed operative must wear and display come from the regulator and your own contracts, not from us. If you are unsure whether wording is allowed, check with your licensing body before ordering.

Company branding versus site branding

Many firms work for several clients. There are two common approaches. The first is a standard company uniform, worn on every contract, with the firm's name and logo. The second is a site-specific top, worn only at one client's premises, sometimes with the client's name. The second approach is more expensive to manage because it multiplies the number of designs. A sensible compromise is a standard company top with a small interchangeable detail, such as a separate sleeve or back print for a major contract. Decide which approach you need before ordering, and keep a record of the design.

Visibility and layering

Some security work requires high visibility, particularly in car parks, on construction sites and at events with traffic. Hi-vis items must meet the right standards for the setting, and the standards come from the garment manufacturer, not the printer. We can discuss printing on suitable hi-vis garments where the fabric allows; see workwear, hi-vis and scrubs printing. Many teams combine a dark base layer with a hi-vis vest worn over it. In that case, the logo on the base layer should sit where it is not hidden by the vest, or be repeated on the back of the vest. Plan the layers together rather than separately.

The dark polo and T-shirt mix

Dark tops dominate in security because they look smart and hide marks. A small left-chest logo on a black or navy top is the classic choice. For colder weather, a hoodie or sweatshirt in the same colour with the same logo keeps the team consistent. Because DTF prints include a white layer, white and bright logos show clearly on dark fabric. The mockup lets you check legibility, and we recommend viewing it at arm's length and from across a room. Our print placement guide explains common positions.

Front, back and sleeve

The front carries the company mark. The back is often used for a larger word, such as the firm's name, which helps when a guard is seen from behind in a crowd. The sleeve can carry a short line, such as a site code. Keep the wording simple, since small text is hard to read on a moving person. Avoid placing text too close to seams or the collar, where it will wrinkle.

Rapid reorders as the team grows

Security firms often win a new contract and need ten new tops in a week. That requires a clear record of what you ordered before. Save the artwork, the garment type, the colour and the print positions. When you need more, send a short message with sizes and the date, and tell us it is a repeat. We match the earlier layout. Order the first batch with a few spare sizes in the most common sizes to cover new starters. For an overview of ongoing orders, see small business branded clothing.

Sizing a team of different builds

Security teams include a wide range of builds, and fit matters for comfort during long standing shifts. Offer the full range S to 5XL and ask guards to choose their own size, not to take what is handed to them. Ask for a measurement of a top they already wear if they are unsure. Poorly fitting tops are one of the most common reasons uniforms are worn badly. If you need a relaxed fit for layering, tell us so we can suggest a size.

Event security and temporary staff

Event security often involves temporary staff who need to be identified quickly. Printed T-shirts or hoodies in a single event colour, with a back print such as "Security" or the firm's name, give a clear visual signal. Plan these orders well ahead of the event, since the event date will not move. Our page on festival and event T-shirt printing covers timing for events, and the bulk T-shirt printing for events page covers larger runs.

Washing and durability

Uniforms worn daily need regular washing. Wash printed tops inside out at a low temperature and avoid hot tumble dryers. Share a short care note with guards at issue. The care guide sets out the steps, and how long DTF prints last describes expected life.

Keeping the look consistent across the firm

A firm looks credible when every guard looks alike. That means the same shade of black or navy, the same logo size, the same position. Print runs ordered months apart can differ slightly in garment shade, because blanks vary between batches. Order a spare stock with the first run and ask us about shade matching before you reorder. The sooner you spot differences, the easier they are to fix.

How to order

  1. Message us with the number of guards, the garments, the colours and the date you need them.
  2. Send the company logo as a vector PDF or a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background.
  3. Send wording for the back or sleeve and a list of sizes.
  4. We confirm the details and take payment before preparing the mockup.
  5. Check the mockup; up to five rounds of changes are included, then we print and dispatch.

Weather and seasons

Guards work outside in all weathers, so plan a layer system: a short-sleeved top for summer, a hoodie for spring and autumn, and a warmer layer worn under a jacket in winter. The same logo on every layer keeps the team consistent whatever the temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you print official-looking badges?

No. We print company logos and wording on garments, not licences or anything meant to look like an official badge.

Can you print on hi-vis?

Where the fabric allows. Ask us and we will confirm. Hi-vis standards come from the garment manufacturer.

Can we reorder for new guards?

Yes. Tell us it is a repeat order and we will match the earlier layout.

Can we have different wording per site?

Yes. Send a list per site and we will lay it out in the mockup.

Is there a minimum order?

No. A single top is fine.
