Christmas T-Shirts Custom Printed in the UK: Single Tops, Families and Big Groups

Christmas T-Shirts Custom Printed in the UK: Single Tops, Families and Big Groups

A Christmas T-shirt is one of the few things people buy, wear for a few hours, photograph and then keep for years. That makes it worth doing properly. This page is a general guide to ordering custom printed Christmas T-shirts from FabricForge: what we print, how the process works, what to prepare before you contact us, and the things that most often go wrong. Whether you want one top, a family set or a hundred for a company, the steps are the same, and we can start from a rough idea or a finished file.

What we print and how

We use DTF, which stands for direct to film. The design is printed onto a film, a powder is applied, and the film is transferred to the garment with heat. It handles full colour, fine detail and gradients, and it works on a range of fabrics and colours, including dark ones. A DTF print sits on the surface of the fabric with a soft, flexible feel, and it is durable when the garment is washed properly. Our page on DTF printing explained covers the technique in more detail, and how long DTF prints last deals with the question of lifespan.

You can put a design on the front, the back or a sleeve. You can print one colour or a photograph. Because there is no screen to make, one top costs the same effort as one of a hundred in terms of set-up, which is why single-item orders are fine here.

Who orders Christmas T-shirts

Families

A household set is the biggest category. Children, parents, grandparents and sometimes the dog all wear a version of the same design. Our children's sizes run from 3 to 16, adult from S to 5XL, with an oversized fit from S to 3XL, so everyone can be included. There is more on planning in the guide to matching family Christmas outfits.

Schools and nurseries

For Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 10 December 2026 and for end-of-term events, schools sometimes choose printed T-shirts as a lower-cost, easier alternative to knitwear. We cover that in our page on Christmas Jumper Day T-shirts.

Workplaces

Teams order festive tops for parties, customer events and shop floors. Details specific to workplaces are on the page for staff Christmas T-shirts and hoodies.

Friends and groups

Pub quizzes, sports clubs, choirs and friendship groups order matching tops for their Christmas night out. Each person can have a different name or role on the back.

Individuals

Lots of people just want one top with a design they love, or a gift for someone with a very particular sense of humour.

Before you contact us

A few minutes of preparation makes the order faster and the result better. Think through the following and put it in your first message.

  1. How many, and in which sizes. A simple list is perfect: "2 x adult M, 1 x adult L, 3 x age 7-8".
  2. What the design says or shows. A finished file is best. A clear description or a sample picture is the next best thing.
  3. Which garment. T-shirt or hoodie, and which colour.
  4. The date you need it by. Give the actual date of the event, not just "before Christmas".
  5. The delivery address. If it is a gift, you can give the recipient's address directly.

Making the artwork work

We print from the file you send, so the quality of the print depends on the quality of the file. The best format is a PNG with a transparent background, at a good resolution, or a PDF. A screenshot or a small image from social media will print blurry, because the information simply is not there. If you only have a low-quality image, tell us at the start, because we may suggest recreating it or a different layout.

We do not design artwork from scratch, but we resize, reposition and adjust layouts to suit the garment. If you want a design created, a freelance designer or an online design tool can produce a file for you, and we will take it from there. Our guide to artwork setup goes through what a good file looks like.

Colour choices that work for Christmas

We offer 14 garment colours. Some combinations are more forgiving than others.

  • White artwork on dark tops (black, navy, bottle green, burgundy): crisp and high contrast.
  • Red and green artwork on white or cream: traditional and bright, though gold-effect artwork can look flat if it relies on shine.
  • Multi-colour illustrations on grey: a neutral base that lets colour pop.
  • Dark artwork on light tops: clear and legible, and kind to the eye in photographs.

If you are not sure, ask us to show the artwork on two colours in the mockup. It costs nothing to compare.

The process from message to parcel

  1. You message us with your idea, quantity and date.
  2. You send the file as a PNG or PDF.
  3. We confirm the details, quote and take payment before we begin.
  4. We send a mockup. You can ask for up to five revisions.
  5. You approve, and we print. Next-day UK delivery can be possible after approval, depending on the time of day.
  6. Your order is sent with DPD, Royal Mail, Parcelforce or our relay parcel service.

Common mistakes

Almost every late or disappointing Christmas order has one of the same causes. The wording was changed after the mockup. A list of sizes was incomplete. The artwork was low quality. The address was not checked. Someone was away on the delivery day and the parcel had nowhere safe to go. None of these is hard to avoid, and most come down to a short checklist before you press send.

Hoodies as well as T-shirts

A T-shirt is the obvious choice for a party in a warm room, but for a long Christmas Day or a December walk many people prefer a hoodie. We print the same design on both, and we adjust the size and position for each garment so it sits properly. If a family or team wants both, put them in one order: the mockup shows each garment, and you approve everything once. Our guide to custom hoodies goes into fit and fabric choices.

Ordering for several households

Some of the most complicated Christmas orders involve a family spread across several addresses. A grandparent in one city, cousins in another, an uncle abroad. If that is you, tell us at the start. We can usually send separate parcels to separate UK addresses, as long as we have each name, address and set of sizes before the mockup is approved. Keeping a single spreadsheet with all the details, and sending it as text in your message, avoids the confusion that comes from information trickling in across several conversations.

Planning your deadline

The earlier you order, the more room there is to fix problems. For help working backwards from a particular date, read our Christmas printing deadlines page. If you are close to the date, message us anyway, because small orders with clear artwork can sometimes be done quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you print Christmas T-shirts in single quantities?

Yes. There is no minimum, so one top is fine as well as bulk orders.

Can I use my own design?

Yes. Send a PNG or PDF. We can adjust size and layout, but we do not design from scratch.

Which sizes are available?

Children's 3 to 16, adult S to 5XL, and oversized S to 3XL.

Will the print crack or fade?

A DTF print is flexible and durable if the garment is washed inside out at a low temperature and not tumble dried on high heat.

How do I pay?

We agree the order and take payment before we prepare the mockup. Message us and we will explain the options.
