Cardiff dresses for match days. FabricForge prints custom T-shirts, hoodies and other clothing for the city at its Cardiff production house, and the finished garments are brought to the customer. Supporters' tops, society hoodies, charity run tees and staff uniforms all arrive by the same route; the production house is not open to walk-in visitors, so you send the idea by WhatsApp, phone or email and we take it from there.

Six Nations to Winter Wonderland: Cardiff's year in shirts
Each note says what groups around that date usually ask for. None of it is a claim that FabricForge has printed for the event. Dates shift from year to year, so check each organiser's own website before you plan around one.
- February and March. The Six Nations rugby championship fills Principality Stadium, which has a usual capacity of 73,931, with Wales home games spread across these weeks. Supporters' groups, pub teams and families often want matching red hoodies, and some add a surname and number on the back. St David's Day on 1 March brings leeks and daffodils, so school and community groups may want themed tees.
- April. The Welsh Varsity pits Cardiff's student teams against their Swansea rivals in spring, with men's rugby as the centrepiece. Sports clubs and their supporters usually order team hoodies and cheer-squad tees.
- Early summer. Pride Cymru draws rainbow-themed friend groups and workplace teams to the city centre. Tafwyl, the Welsh-language festival, is usually held in Bute Park in mid-June. Llandaff Festival around the cathedral and the Cardiff Food & Drink Festival on Roald Dahl Plass follow around the turn of June and July. Stallholders, volunteers and stewards typically want plain crew tees and hi-vis.
- July and August. Cricket takes over Sophia Gardens, with Glamorgan home matches in the T20 competitions and The Hundred, where Welsh Fire are based. Junior cricket clubs and supporters often order shirts with names and squad numbers. The castle also hosts summer concerts.
- October. The Cardiff Half Marathon is usually run on the first Sunday of the month, and it includes a business challenge. Charity runners usually need a bright tee with the cause on the front, and their support crews like matching tops. Autumn internationals also return to Principality Stadium around October and November.
- November to January. Cardiff's Winter Wonderland usually opens in mid-November and runs into the new year at Cardiff Castle and the City Hall lawns. Seasonal staff teams often want matching hoodies.
Fixtures run all season too: Cardiff City at their own stadium, Cardiff Rugby at Cardiff Arms Park, and Cardiff Devils at the Vindico Arena in Cardiff Bay. Rugby groups should read our page on personalised rugby kit, and other clubs can look at sports team kit printing.
Universities, colleges and the students' union
Cathays and Cyncoed fill with young people each autumn. What follows says what each body is and what its members typically need.
Cardiff University. Established in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, it is a large research university. Its academic buildings cluster around Cathays Park, with the medical school at Heath Park. Schools such as Journalism, Media and Culture or the Welsh School of Architecture could order cohort hoodies carrying the intake year, plus a module joke across the shoulders.
Cardiff Students' Union. Over 200 societies and about 70 sports clubs sit under this union, which also has the student newspaper Gair Rhydd and Xpress Radio. A radio presenter or a newspaper desk wants a tee that makes them identifiable at events, and a sports club wants hoodies with surnames for the post-match bar.
Cardiff Metropolitan University. Formerly UWIC and renamed in 2011, it spreads across the Llandaff and Cyncoed campuses. Cyncoed holds the National Indoor Athletics Centre, and the Cardiff School of Art & Design, opened in 1865, is its oldest part. Archery, rugby and football squads need numbered tops, and art students need studio-friendly tees printed with their own artwork.
University of South Wales. Created on 11 April 2013 by the merger of Glamorgan and Newport, it has about 20,790 students, with its Cardiff base in the ATRiuM building, and it is known for film, animation, music, drama, cyber security and nursing. Film and animation cohorts can wear crew tees for graduation screenings, and nursing students may order fundraising hoodies instead of anything clinical.
Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Wales's national conservatoire, founded in 1949 as the Cardiff College of Music, trains actors, musicians, designers and technicians, with the Richard Burton Theatre and Dora Stoutzker Hall on site. Stage-management and design students backstage live in black, so plain black tees with a small chest logo suit them; performers might add a leavers' hoodie.
Hospitals, blood and children's care
Clinical dress is set by the health board or trust, so what we describe here is fundraising and volunteer clothing.
University Hospital of Wales. Known as the Heath, this 1,080-bed teaching hospital opened in 1971 and is the largest hospital in Wales, with a kidney transplant centre and a major accident and emergency unit. A ward holding a sponsored event or a charity bake could choose a single bright tee, perhaps with department names across the back.
Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales. Built in two phases in 2006 and 2015 on the Heath site, it provides 179 beds, five operating theatres, a paediatric intensive care unit and a hydrotherapy pool. Families raising money for a child on the wards might want a photo tee with the child's name, and staff teams can pick a cheerful animal design for a fun run.
University Hospital Llandough. The district general hospital in Penarth, completed in 1933, is linked to Cardiff University's medical school and includes the Hafan y Coed adult mental health unit. Staff groups who run a wellbeing walk might like a calm-coloured tee, and volunteers who manage events appreciate a clear name line on the chest.
Velindre Cancer Centre. Founded in 1956 and located in Whitchurch, the specialist centre has 47 beds, provides radiotherapy and hosts a support centre for patients and families. Supporters walking, cycling or running for it are likely to want a recognisable team tee in a single colour, plus a printed dedication on the back.
Welsh Blood Service. A division of the same NHS trust, based in Pontyclun, it takes in unpaid donations of blood, platelets and stem cells and supplies hospitals across Wales, as well as running the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Workplaces and clubs that organise donor drives might print a shared slogan on tees to rally a group of first-time donors.
Tŷ Hafan. The Welsh charity for children with life-limiting conditions, with a hospice in the Vale of Glamorgan that opened in 1999, runs events including the Welsh Three Peaks, the Rainbow Run and the Taff Trail Cycle Challenge. A cyclist team would want breathable lighter garments matched with the rainbow theme, and walkers tackling the three peaks can share one bold tee for the summit photograph.
Government and civic Cardiff
Senedd. The Welsh Parliament is bilingual, has 96 members elected for four-year terms, and meets in the Cardiff Bay building opened in 2006, built with slate and Welsh oak. Visitors usually see the Pierhead Building exhibition. Campaign groups and school councils coming to the Bay can wear identical tees so a teacher counts heads quickly.
Welsh Government. Led by the First Minister, it proposes policy in devolved areas such as health, education and transport, and its main offices include Cathays Park. Civil-service networks and staff charity teams might order tees for a shared challenge, with the choice of English, Welsh or both languages on the front.
Cardiff Council. Formed in 1996 as a unitary authority, it has 79 councillors across 28 wards and sits at County Hall on Atlantic Wharf. Neighbourhood litter-pickers, park friends and community-festival marshals working alongside the council can wear hi-vis vests, or plain tees naming their group.
Arts, heritage and broadcasting
Wales Millennium Centre. Wales's national arts centre in Cardiff Bay opened in phases from 2004 and 2009, and its slate-clad exterior carries bilingual lines by Gwyneth Lewis. Eight resident arts organisations share it, two of them described below. Front-of-house teams, workshop leaders and youth groups can wear understated tees or hoodies marked with a discreet name.
Welsh National Opera. Launched in 1946 and resident at the Centre since 2004, the company stages eight operas a year in about 120 performances, with its own orchestra and salaried chorus. Chorus members rehearsing or touring may want warm-up hoodies, while volunteers helping at community events like a neat black tee.
BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Wales's sole professional symphony orchestra, founded in 1928, is one of five BBC radio ensembles and works from BBC Hoddinott Hall. Young players in its learning projects and friends' groups could use matching tee designs showing a violin, a harp or a score, printed in full colour.
St David's Hall. Opened in 1982 as the National Concert Hall of Wales, it seats 1,500. Choirs and societies who book a concert there can have rehearsal tees and programme-seller polos made in good time.
Cardiff Castle. A Roman fort of the 3rd century was overlaid by a Norman motte-and-bailey castle, and the 3rd Marquess of Bute had William Burges remodel it in Gothic style before the family gave it to the city in 1947. Summer concerts and the winter market bring seasonal staff who can be given matching hoodies.
National Museum Cardiff. This Cathays Park museum and art gallery, part of Amgueddfa Cymru, has free entry, opened in 1922 and holds fine and applied art, botany, geology and zoology. A school group exploring the natural history rooms is easier to spot in matching tees, and volunteer docents in a branded polo look consistent.
St Fagans National Museum of History. The open-air museum, which opened in July 1948, shows Welsh life through more than forty re-erected buildings in the grounds of St Fagans Castle, with a small working farm. Craft demonstrators and family-day helpers need hard-wearing plain tees, and a heritage society can add a village-style emblem.
Techniquest. An independent educational charity in Cardiff Bay, open since 1986 and in its permanent home since 1995, it offers over 100 interactive exhibits, a science theatre and a planetarium, and works with schools across Wales. Explainers and science-club leaders do well in bright polos, and a trip group can wear a colour that stands out among the crowds.
Llandaff Cathedral. Building began in 1120, a parachute mine took the roof off the nave in January 1941, and Epstein's figure of Christ in Majesty now hangs above the nave. With a choir of boys and men plus a girls' choir, singers on tour could order simple hoodies, and festival helpers during Llandaff Festival may wear plain tees with the cathedral name.
BBC Roath Lock Studios. The BBC Cymru Wales drama production base at Porth Teigr, opened in September 2011, has housed Doctor Who, Casualty and Pobol y Cwm. Crews on location prefer dark, hard-wearing hoodies, and fan clubs might ask for a show-inspired design drawn by their own artist.
Stadiums, clubs and teams
Principality Stadium. Wales's national stadium opened in 1999 as the Millennium Stadium, has a retractable roof and room for 73,931, and has hosted a Champions League final and FA Cup finals. Match-day stewards need hi-vis, while a coach party of fans tends to want identical red tees with a slogan and the match date.
Welsh Rugby Union. The governing body for rugby in Wales, dating from 1881, oversees 320 member clubs and the national team and trains coaches and referees. Club coaches, referees and age-grade managers can order tracksuit-style hoodies, and their volunteers wear plain polos at festivals.
Cardiff Arms Park. Beside the national stadium, the ground holds 12,125 and is shared by Cardiff Rugby and an amateur club; it staged the 1958 Commonwealth Games. Mini and youth players can have tops with names and numbers, and supporters' groups can add a branch name to a warm hoodie for cold evenings.
Cardiff City. Founded in 1899 as Riverside A.F.C., the Bluebirds play in blue and white at the Cardiff City Stadium, which holds 33,316, and won the FA Cup in 1927, the only side outside England to do so. Away-day coach parties can print a branch name and a year, and kids' squads can have their own numbered shirts.
Cardiff Devils. The ice hockey side formed in 1986 plays in the top British ice hockey league at Vindico Arena in Cardiff Bay, which holds 3,088, in red, white and black. Fan groups can order jersey-style tees bearing a favourite player's surname and number, and junior skaters from local rinks enjoy matching practice tops.
Glamorgan County Cricket Club. Wales's only first-class county, founded in 1888, plays at Sophia Gardens, a riverside park in Riverside; the ground has room for 16,000 and stages Test cricket. Junior sections can have shirts with names and squad numbers, and scorers prefer a plain polo.
Welsh Fire. A Cardiff-based franchise in The Hundred since 2019, with men's and women's sides who both play home games at Sophia Gardens. Supporters arriving as family groups can have matching tops themed on the franchise name, and stewards at the ground need hi-vis.
Business names in the capital
Admiral Group. The insurer, headquartered in Cardiff, was founded in 1991 and employs a large local workforce. Charity-day teams, sports and social clubs and graduate intakes could order tees in a plain shade of their choosing, adding a team name of their own.
Principality Building Society. The mutual, founded in 1860 and based in Cardiff, runs 71 locations and bought the naming rights to the national stadium in 2015. Branch teams who take part in local fun runs or community days can wear one standard tee printed with a team slogan.
Brains. The brewery of S.A. Brain & Company, set up in 1882, runs the Dragon Brewery at Tremorfa and is known for Brains SA, nicknamed Skull Attack. Brewery tour hosts and pub quiz teams would favour cotton tees with a bold lettered logo on the chest.
All the institutions, clubs, venues, companies and events above are named as local colour only; FabricForge has no tie to, backing from or work with any of them.

Send us the artwork and we will place it on the garment you choose.
Starting a Cardiff order
Send a message on WhatsApp, phone or email with the artwork, the garment you have in mind and how many people it is for. Welsh slogans are fine, and we check spellings and circumflexes on the proof. A quote follows that tells you the expected delivery time and whether a delivery charge applies. Big runs can go straight to bulk T-shirt printing or the quote page.
After the quote you approve a visual proof, where every name and logo is checked. The Cardiff production house then prints the order, which is sent to you.
Garments and printing
DTF printing carries full-colour crests, fine lettering and gradients onto T-shirts, hoodies, polos, workwear, hi-vis, scrubs and tote bags. Names and numbers can be added for squads and supporter groups.
Planning around Cardiff dates
- A fixture or event date cannot move, so state it in your opening message.
- Supporter groups vary week by week; run a quick poll for sizes and confirm the list before ordering.
- Societies should agree names once the new term settles and again before graduation.
- Half marathon teams should lock the logo and colour well before the first Sunday in October.
- We do not promise turnaround in advance; the quote says what is realistic.
Cardiff printing questions
Can I order red hoodies for a group heading to a Wales game at Principality Stadium?
Yes, supporters' groups often order matching hoodies or tees, sometimes with surnames and numbers on the back. Send the design, sizes and the match date. A visual proof lets you check every name before printing.
What do Cardiff University societies usually order, and when should we start?
Many societies pick a hoodie with a chest logo and committee names across the back. Settle the design and sizes early, because members keep joining after the first weeks of term. A discount starts at 5 items.
Can you print Welsh-language slogans with accents?
Yes. Send the wording exactly as you want it, including accents such as circumflexes. Every name and slogan is checked on a visual proof before printing, so you can spot any spelling mistakes yourself first. The quote confirms delivery.
Do you deliver to Penarth, Caerphilly and the Vale of Glamorgan?
Yes. Orders from Cardiff go to Penarth, Barry, Caerphilly, Pontypridd and other places around the city. Include your postcode when you enquire, and the quote lays out the delivery arrangements for it.
We are fundraising for the Cardiff Half Marathon. What works for charity tees?
A bold, high-visibility tee carrying the charity logo and a team name is the usual choice. Send the logo files and a size list, then check them on the proof. The quote states the delivery arrangements for your address.
Can cricket clubs near Sophia Gardens get shirts with names and numbers?
Yes, junior and adult clubs order shirts with player names and squad numbers. Send the roster, preferred colours and any sponsor logos. The proof shows every name for checking before it is printed.
What is the simplest way to start an order?
Contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email with the design, the garments and the numbers. A quote comes back first, then a visual proof for you to approve, and after that your order is printed and delivered.
Do bigger groups get a discount?
Yes, larger groups get a discount from 5 items, and a single item is still fine. Put the quantity in your first message and the quote will show what applies.
