Foil or Spot UV — What's the Difference?
Both add a premium finish but work differently. Foil stamping presses a thin metallic foil (gold, silver, copper) onto the card with heat and a die — it adds a reflective colour and often a subtle impression you can feel. Spot UV applies a clear high-gloss varnish to chosen areas, creating contrast through shine against a matt background rather than adding colour. Foil = metallic shine; spot UV = glossy-on-matt contrast. Both suit logos, titles and author names beautifully.

Design Tips
Use both sides — a bookmark is seen from both sides in use, and a blank back wastes half the space (a QR code to your site, book or catalogue works well). Lamination is worth it for anything handled daily. Supply a print-ready PDF in CMYK at 300 DPI with 3mm bleed, keeping text at least 3mm inside the trim on the narrow edges.

Should it be printed both sides? Usually yes — double the space at little extra cost.
