For some families, a printed canvas feels like the right way to remember a pet: something substantial enough to hang on a wall permanently, rather than sit in a drawer. Our pet memorial canvas turns a favourite photograph into a lasting piece for your home, with your pet's name, dates, a paw print or a few chosen words.

What You Can Include

  • A favourite photograph, printed edge to edge or framed in a border
  • Your pet's name and dates
  • A paw print, verse or your own words — or simply the photo alone

About the Canvas

The image is printed and stretched over a wooden frame (a "gallery wrap"), ready to hang straight away — no glass, no glare, no framing needed. It's a permanent indoor piece — the kind of memorial that becomes part of the home rather than a keepsake put away.

What Photo Resolution Do You Actually Need?

Good news: canvas is forgiving. Because the fabric texture hides small softness and wall art is viewed from a distance, canvas prints look sharp at around 150 DPI — large canvases work even at ~100 DPI. In plain terms: a standard 12-megapixel phone photo comfortably prints large. What ruins a canvas isn't your camera — it's compression. WhatsApp and Messenger shrink photos to roughly 1–2 megapixels, so always send the original from the camera roll, not a forward or screenshot.

Canvas up to… Photo needed Typical 12MP phone photo?
40 × 30cm ~1800 × 1200px ✅ Easily
60 × 40cm ~2400 × 1600px ✅ Yes
80 × 60cm+ ~3600 × 2400px+ ✅ Usually — send the original

Scanning an old printed photo? Scan at 600 DPI. We check every image and will always tell you honestly, before printing, if a photo won't do your pet justice at the size you've chosen. You'll see a preview first.

Canvas vs Framed Print vs Acrylic

Canvas — warm, painterly, no glass or glare, and the most forgiving of photo quality; ideal as a permanent tribute. Framed print — crisp and formal behind glass, but needs a higher-resolution photo. Acrylic — modern and glossy, also demanding of resolution. For a much-loved photo — even an older or slightly soft one — canvas is usually the most flattering choice.

FAQs

Can I use an old or slightly blurry photo? Often yes — canvas texture hides minor softness better than glossy paper. Send the best original you have (or scan an old print at 600 DPI) and we'll check it honestly before printing.

My photo is on WhatsApp — is that okay? Ask the sender for the original from their camera roll instead — WhatsApp compresses images and can make prints look soft.

What size should I choose? Confirmed at order — tell us the wall space and we'll suggest what will look best.

Photo only, no text? Absolutely.

Two pets on one canvas? Yes.

Ready to hang? Yes — stretched on a wooden frame.

Matching smaller keepsakes? Yes — memorial card, bookmark and foam board; browse the full range on our pet memorial printing page.
