Where the Atom Was Split and Graphene Was Born

Manchester's story runs from the Mechanics' Institution of 1824 through Owens College and the Victoria University of Manchester to the 2004 merger with UMIST that created today's university of around 46,000 students — one of the largest campus universities in the UK.
