A typical indoor base weighs only ~3.5–4kg — not enough to resist wind — and water can damage the retracting mechanism. Genuine outdoor use needs a purpose-built outdoor banner with a heavy or water-fillable base plus ground pegs, and even then it's a fair-weather, short-term tool. Budget mechanisms can lose tension after a year or so of heavy use (sagging, incomplete retraction), while heavier premium bases use more robust springs that hold up across hundreds of set-ups — the printed graphic is usually identical; you're paying for base weight, stability and mechanism life.
